Rwanda Dukunde Kawa
Single-Origin
Natural Process
Elevation: 1,800 - 2,200 meters
Roast Level: Light/Medium
Tasting Notes: Red Currant, Juicy, Apple
We’re super excited to announce our first offering from Rwanda, via the Dukunde Kawa Co-op women’s association. We love sourcing from and supporting female producers, and this coffee is a shining example from an often overlooked origin.
The Dukunde Kawa Co-op was founded in 2000, and has steadily grown in the area surrounding Musasa, in northern Rwanda. The group cultivates and sells “women's coffee” as a separate export, and works in embroidery and weaving during the offseason to diversify their income sources.
You’ll find notes of red currant and an apple-like finish. We found this coffee to be very “juicy,” especially if you let it cool down - it’s reminiscent of a berry/fruit punch at room temperature of chilled. We hope you’ll enjoy this offering as much as we do!
