About Us

We started this company with one thing in mind: Integrity. We strive every day to be a coffee roaster that actually does what it says - not just roasting great coffee, but doing good things for our local community and world.

  • We strive to source a significant portion of our offerings from female-run or owned farms. Women do so much of the work in the coffee world, but rarely get the credit - or are paid fairly!

  • Our coffee bags are 100% biodegradable. Yes, even the labels! We are committed to sustainable packaging. We’d love to use fancy printed bags, but at the end of the day, that plastic or foil bag ISN’T going to get recycled - it’s going to end up in a landfill for hundreds of years.

  • When we ship out orders, they are sent in brown kraft envelopes or USPS-branded cardboard boxes - all of which are recyclable. We also reuse new and clean cardboard boxes from area businesses in an effort to get more use out of the existing materials in circulation.

About Us

Our company's name comes from Sleeping Giant State Park (Hamden, CT), one of Connecticut's green gems. This mountainous beauty of a park is full of hiking trails, a stone tower, and streams - the namesake comes from the ridge line, which resembles a giant lying down. The variety of terrain makes it accessible to hikers of all ages and abilities. It holds a special place in the heart of our founder/roaster, Jesse, who grew up frequenting the park and making memories as a child. He now continues the tradition and brings his own family hiking and exploring there.
